About Wired for Reading

An evidence based linguistics program for reading, spelling, and vocabulary.

Wired for Reading® is a multisensory Structured Literacy program grounded in research from linguistics and cognitive science, designed especially for students with dyslexia and other reading and spelling challenges.

The program covers:

• Speech Sounds: Students investigate how sounds are made in their own mouths, learning to hear, feel, see, compare, and track them in spoken words.
• Phonics and Spelling: Students learn how the sounds in words are represented in writing and how to make spelling choices.
• Multisyllabic Words: Students learn to read and spell multisyllabic words by breaking them into syllables and meaningful word parts.
• Latin and Greek: Students learn how a word’s origin and its meaningful parts (prefixes, roots, and suffixes) help explain why it’s spelled the way it is and what it means.

We recognize patterns of strengths often associated with dyslexia—big-picture thinking, creativity, verbal storytelling, and emotional insight—and incorporate these strengths into our teaching approach.

Wired takes sophisticated linguistic content and makes it something students can investigate, play with, reason about, and discover. They meet unforgettable characters whose personalities and adventures help explain English spelling patterns.
